Earth Hour Maldives joined Maldives Girl Guides Association (MGGA) to Advocate Girl Guides and parents to advocate on climate change on 17 of March 2018, at the fair held to mark World Thinking Day Celebration. Under the partnership, Maldives Girl Guides Association opened this opportunity to Earth Hour Maldives to open a stall at this fair to raise awareness towards the significance of climate change and need for climate action. Under the mission; to enable girls and young women to develop and attain their full potential as responsible citizens of the country, Maldives Girl Guides Association has more than 6000 members from 60 schools across the nation and is the largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women in Maldives. MGGA aims to provide a programme embracing wide range of activities and interesting hobbies while enjoyable, in themselves have an underlying educational purpose, namely to develop individual character based on the values n the Promise and Law. As a member of the world’s largest voluntary movement dedicated to girls and young women, World Association for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), MGGA follows the same principles laid by the founder of movement. Maldives Girl Guides Association joined Earth Hour Maldives to mark Earth Hour 2018 under the theme “Connect to Earth”. Earth Hour is on Saturday, 24th March 2018 at 8:30pm.
